Last week Alex and myself were out surveying the beaches when we got a call that a female Green was up on one of the other beaches. We went straight there via the kayaks but the female had already departed without laying any eggs probably due to being disturbed.
We continued with our survey but upon returning to base at 00:15 hrs and the last beach of the night we discovered a fresh set of tracks. As we scanned ahead of us and into the void of darkness we could see that the female was present and making a body pit.
Above shows you the new set of tracks the second of the night and below shows the culprit, a female Green Turtle. Sadly, again she didn't lay, and we suspect it might be due to the sand being compressed by the recent rains.
